2025 Events

November 19, 2024
We now have a small, friendly, enthusiastic group. If you would like to join us please get in touch richard@activefakenham.org.uk Active Fakenham is excited to announce a new community initiative, "Fakenham Arts Festival”, Inspired by the success of the 2024 Active Fakenham Film Festival. This initiative aims to foster stronger connections and promote local engagement. Active Fakenham is hoping to support and organise a local arts festival to help showcase some of the talented local artists. We are looking to run a festival from 24th to 31st August 2025. This could involve a trail using local shops, cafes and other venues in the town through a week in August culminating in an exhibition on Sunday 31st August 2025 in the Fakenham Community Centre. We hope to include a range of media. We can only do it if we are supported by some local people/artists to help us run it. We are willing and able to provide support and knowhow. We can : Venue: We can book and fund the rooms. Publicity: We can help with publicity including coverage in press, design and host a webpage, social media, and leaflets. We will fund this. Town Guide Listing: Potential inclusion in the Fakenham Town Guide. Ride North Norfolk : This will also be on the Sunday 31st August in the grounds of the Fakenham Community Centre, so there will be quite a large number of people around as well as those attending the Arts Festival. Café Treats: Coffee, cakes, and a barbecue will be on site on Sunday 31st August. Organising Help and Support: We can provide assistance with event planning and execution. Intros to Shops and Venues: We have connections to local businesses and venues who will be willing to display artworks. We need help with: Curation: Curate the events on the day or days. Displays: Arrange displays around town the previous week, with some already agreed upon. Rota Management: Manage the rota and ensure smooth operations on the day and oversee the week. Day-of Responsibilities: Take responsibility on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. Select artwork: Help with the selection of the artworks to be displayed and set up exhibition Richard Crook from Active Fakenham said, “This is an exciting opportunity for artists and the town. It can only happen if we have some help with the running of the event so I hope people will get in touch to discuss it and see if we can make this a reality” "We believe that by bringing Fakenham together, we can create a stronger, more united community. This initiative is about fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our town, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have." For more information about how you can get involved, please contact Richard at richard@activefakenham.org.uk. New for November and December 2024 Active Fakenham is very excited to team up with Maria Fenn and Everyone Active Fakenham to support the community by offering a Beginner’s Guide to Breathwork and Meditation . Maria is a practitioner with over 20 years of experience in holistic health and energy work. These workshops are perfect for complete beginners, as well as those who have been “trying” to meditate for years without success. Each session starts with gentle movement, which can be done from a chair or mat, to stretch the body before moving into breathwork, followed by a deeply relaxing meditation. Over the course of the workshop, you'll discover simple techniques to quiet the mind, find clarity, and cultivate inner peace. Why meditation and breathwork? Meditation and breathwork are powerful tools for calming the mind, reducing stress, and improving overall wellbeing. They help you reconnect with your inner self, bringing balance, clarity, and a renewed sense of energy into your life.

Active Fakenham’s Easter Funday and races is going from strength to strength. Despite the rain, runners, riders and spectators turned out to enjoy the town centre Easter event. Nearly five hundred people took part in the mornings runs with ages ranging from under two years old to over eighty. Three fast and exciting official British Cycling circuit races continued in wet conditions through the afternoon. Richard Crook, from Active Fakenham which organised the event said, “ we had record numbers for the runs, which were good natured, inclusive and fun. We had a 5K race, a 1K Funrun and a Toddle’n’Trike for the under five years olds.” The cycle racers reached speeds of around thirty five miles and hour despite the often difficult and testing conditions. “We have been organising this event since 2026 and this attracted people from as far away as Bristol and Birmingham, mostly it was for local people, and we kept the cost down as well as giving some free places to local children. We gave away over three hundred Easter eggs, medals and goody bags to the children who took part. It was a community event, and I would like to thank the many volunteers that gave up much of their Easter Sunday, we had over fifty people out helping on the day. We were also supported by local businesses.
